I crave travel and its life-expanding experiences. Few sensations match the thrill of arriving in a new location…except, perhaps, the joy of helping you achieve the same experience. As a seven-year-old girl, I left my island home on my first plane ride. The Air Jamaica stewardesses looked like models, smelled delicious, and were genuinely caring and comforting. How I desired to be like them. The airport was so grand, filled with shops and lines of people headed to exotic locations. Living in the United States for the next twenty years as a Jamerican, I came to learn and appreciate the many cultures that composed my diverse community. Following the dreams planted in childhood, I studied to be a travel agent with the ability to plan the most sensational vacations. My second love is helping people improve their health. My medical career has been quite rewarding, as scholarships and stable employment paved the way for more travel. Even my occupation as a vascular sonographer (medical technician) allowed me to travel through various states. But one trip in particular turned my attention back to fulltime travel planning. In 2006, I traveled to Mumbai, India, for the christening of a friend’s child. On the plane, a family invited me to a wedding. (I’m a friendly person.) My solo trip from Mumbai to the wedding took 31 hours by train and bus! The wedding was a lavish, five-day feast and exchange of gold. Few people spoke English, but many wanted to touch this foreigner. All other experiences pale in comparison…and I returned home determined to live a life committed to travel. We plan vacations and act as personal guides to areas where we have first-hand expertise, with a focus on your health. And we care for you in the smallest of ways, just as the stewardesses cared for me with genuine concern on my first flight. It seems everything comes back to Jamaica. On our island, the Maroons were a proud people from Africa who refused to be slaves. They fought to be unlike everyone else, to be free. Like them, you and I must refuse to be trapped. As I’ve proven personally on more than one occasion now… One extravagant journey may change your life! Please click here to read a detailed history of the Maroons of Jamaica. Sherrie T. Evans |
